American people celebrate Saint Valentine's Day on the 14th of February. In the 1900's the practise of gift-giving began. It's a day to show love ones you care about them, parents will give gifts to their children, friends also exchange cards and gifts and schools organize parties, dances and programs to celebrate the day. Americans will spend a total of 186 billion of dollars on Valentin's Day (on cards, flowers, gifts, dinner...) making it the second grossing holiday after Christmas. 224 million roses are grown for Valentine's Day and 26 million kilogrames of chocolate will be bought for this day. This year, in Rebordáns the oldest students celebrated the day in the English class with Miss Stacie Kjelden and the English teacher. They made cards for all of their classmates and gave a small gift with the cards too. They had a good time!

Os norteamericanos celebran San Valentín o 14 de febreiro, dende 1900 empezaron o costume de dar agasallos non so aos namorados senón tamén ás persoas polas que sinten afecto. Así os pais mercan algo sinxelo aos seus fillos, os amigos intercambian tarxetas con pequenos regalos e os colexios organizan festas, bailes e actividades para celebrar o día. Despois do Nadal é a festa na que máis gastarán, sobre uns 186 billóns de dólares entre tarxetas, flores,agasallos, ceas... 224 millóns de rosas son cultivadas para ese día e 26 millóns de quilos de bombóns serán comprados. Este ano coa presencia de Miss Stacie Kjelden entre nós, os rapaces maiores (de 5º e 6º), celebrárono na clase de inglés facendo tarxetas e intercambiandoas cos seus compañeiros. Ademáis engadiron un pequeno agasallo. Pasaron un bo rato!
