RECYCLING PLASTIC BOTTLE TOPS – RECICLAXE DE TAPÓNS

The last activity of this academic year in Arts and Crafts was the elaboration of a summer mural. Since we have been working on recycling, we decided to use plastic bottle tops to make our mural. Everybody took place in this activity and the school hall looks cool!!!

A última actividade deste ano académico en Plástica foi a elaboración dun mural de verán. Xa que estabamos a traballar coa reciclaxe, decidimos usar os tapóns de plástico das botellas para facer o noso mural. Todo o mundo participou e agora a entrada do colexio está cool !!!

RECYCLING PAPER – RECICLAXE DE PAPEL

As part of the syllabus of Arts and Crafts and Natural Sciences we decided to recycle paper. Students had shown an increasing interest in this process since they studied it in Natural Sciences. Moreover, the use and elaboration of different materials is an important part of Arts and Crafts. Therefore, as an interdisciplinary activity as well as a cross-curricular content we recycled paper and used it to decorate the cover of our works.

Como parte da programación de Plástica e de Ciencias da Natureza decidimos reciclar papel. Os estudantes amosaran un crecente interese por este proceso xa que o estudiaron en Ciencias da Natureza. Ademais, o uso e elaboración de diferentes materiais é unha parte importante da materia de Plástica. Por estes motivos e como actividade interdisciplinar e croscurricular reciclamos papel e usámolo para decorar as portadas dos nosos traballos.

Steps followed to recycle paper:

- The teacher making a sieve with saw, hammer, nails and mosquito netting.

- Put paper scraps in water for an hour or more.

- Blend that paper with water until it is a smooth mixture (use a blender under the supervision of your teacher).

- Put that mixture in a pool with more water.

- Use a sieve to obtain a thin layer of the mixture.

- Dry out that layer of paper with a cotton cloth.

- Let it dry completely.

- Use your paper.

Pasos a seguir para reciclar papel:

- A profesora fabricando o baruto con serrucho, martelo, cravos e mosquiteiro.

- Pon anacos de papel en auga durante unha hora ou máis.

- Mestura eses anacos de papel con auga usando unha batedeira Americana (sempre baixo o uso e supervisión da profesora).

- Bótase esa mestura nunha piscina pequeniña con auga.

- Cun baruto cóllese unha capa fina desa mestura.

- Para secala pónselle un pano de algodón por riba.

- Deixase secar completamente.

- Úsase o novo papel.

We went on working on lines and rulers, and as part of this topic we have made paper windmills. These artifacts are based on a perfect square and its diagonals. The stick is a roll of newspaper painted in black. Both the windmill and the stick have been assembled by means of nut earrings and pins.

Seguimos traballando con liñas e regras pero esta vez facendo uns muíños de papel. A elaboración destes aparellos baséase nun cadrado perfecto e as súas diagonais. O pau que o sostén é un rolo de papel de periódico pintado de negro. Os muíños e os paus están ensamblados por medio de porquetas e alfinetes.

ANXO FARIÑA – ANXO FARIÑA

(Illustrator and Writer) – (Ilustrador e Escritor)

As part of the celebration of the Book Day and as an activity closely related to Arts and Crafts we had the honor of meeting Anxo Fariña. Anxo Fariña is a famous illustrator and writer who is the author of books such as Os Megatoxos or La llave de la Atlántida among others. He taught us very useful tricks to draw cartoons: the CO trick, the D trick, the CD trick, etc. We learnt a great deal of interesting and funny things and we enjoyed his visit a lot. Thank You Very Much Anxo!!!

Como parte da celebración do Día do Libro e como parte da materia de Plástica tivemos o honor de coñecer a Anxo Fariña. Anxo Fariña é un famoso ilustrador e escritor autor de libros coma Os Megatoxos ou La llave de la Atlántida entre outros. Ensinounos varios trucos para debuxar: o truco do CO, o truco do D, o truco do CD, etc. Aprendemos moitas cousas interesantes e divertidas e desfrutamos e aproveitamos a súa visita. Moitísimas Gracias Anxo!!!

BOOK DAY – DÍA DO LIBRO

In order to celebrate Book Day we decided to elaborate a big mural to decorate the hall of our school. All groups took part in this activity: 6^th and 5^th begun with a collage of a girl made of magazine paper; 4^th and 3^rd carried out the collage of a big book using old newspapers and they painted some letters to write the words “BOOK DAY-DÍA DO LIBRO”; finally, 2^nd and 1^st cut the letters and pasted them on the mural, then they painted drawings of famous book characters and added some details. The result was great!!!

Para celebrar o Día do Libro decidimos elaborar un gran mural para decorar a entrada do noso colexio. Todos os grupos participaron na actividade: 6º e 5º comezaron cun collage dunha nena feito de follas de revista; 4º e 3º fixeron outra parte do collage pero usando periódicos vellos e pintaron as letras para escribir “BOOK DAY-DÍA DO LIBRO;” finalmente, 2º e 1º cortaron esas letras e pegáronas no mural, despois pintaron debuxos de personaxes famosos de libros e engadiron algúns detalles. O resultado foi fantástico!!!

The third term will be devoted to the use of rulers as well as to draw different types of lines (among other activities!!!).

O terceiro trimestre estará dedicado ao uso das regras e a debuxar diferentes tipos de liñas (entre outras actividades!!!)

1^st and 2^nd year students have begun using rulers freely, just to get familiar with these new tools. Then, they have drawn straight lines with their rulers to finally get beautiful stars. We have also studied basic geometric shapes such as the square, triangle and circle.

1º e 2º empezaron usando as regras de forma libre, simplemente para familiarizarse con uso destes novos obxectos. Despois, debuxaron liñas rectas coas regras que finalmente resultaron nunhas fermosas estrelas. Tamén estudiamos formas xeométricas básicas coma o cadrado, triángulo e círculo.

3^rd and 4^th year students also used rulers to draw abstract and non abstract pictures. Then, they drew straight lines to get a curious shape. After that, they used squares to add depth to a shape. Finally, we worked on the different geometric shapes by means of a Tangram.

3º e 4º tamén empregaron as regras para facer debuxos abstractos e non tan abstractos. Seguiron co trazado de liñas rectas para crear unha figura curiosa. Despois diso, usaron cadrados para dar profundidade a unha forma. Finalmente traballaron coas distintas figuras xeométricas por medio dun Tangram.

5^th and 6^th - 5º e 6º

5^th and 6^th year students worked on lines made freehand. Although it could seem easy, it is difficult and a very time-consuming activity. You must be patient to carry out this kind of drawings!!!

5º e 6º traballaron en liñas feitas a man alzada. Aínda que poida parecer fácil, é un traballo difícil e que leva moito tempo. Tes que ter paciencia para facelo!!!
