Westward expansion

Due to the arrival of many inmigrants from Europe, the population of the United States growth rapidly during the 19th century. Therefore the USA were encouraged to expand westwards and reach the Pacific Coast.

The American Civil War (1861-1865)

The war was between the northern states (with an industry based economy and hostile towards slavery) and the southern states (with an economy based on agriculture and slavery). The North won the war and slavary was ended
