Demographic growth
During the 18th century the population grew steadily from 110 million in 1700 up to 190 million in 1800.
This growth was mostly due to scientific advances, improvements in nutrition and hygiene and the reduction of epidemics thanks to the discovery of the first vaccine (it was discovered by Jenner in 1796 to fight against smallpox) or the use of quinine to fight malaria.
