ANDY WARHOL AND POP ART

We talked about Pop Art in class and , of course, Andy Warhol, the American artist, father of this movement.

POP ART  is an artistic movement from the 50s and 60s that used advertising, famous movies, famous people to create art. The idea was to move it nearer to people: Art was for everybody, not only for intellectuals in museums or galleries.

ANDY WARHOLD,  the most important figure, was an American photographer. Some of the characteristics of his works were: repetition of images, colourful pictures, use of photographs, colours contrast.
