FRUIT WEEK

May 2016

Last week preschoolers made two healthy food recipes in class: rainbow fruit brochettes and a fruit salad. Firstly, we reviewed the names of the fruits and their colours and, finally, we prepared the delicious recipes.

1st Grade students are also learning about food, likes and dislikes... so we decided to make a SMILING SANDWICH. All you need for this funny recipe is: bread, one black olive and some slices of cucumber, cheese and sausage. That´s all!

MAPLE SYRUP

April 2016

1st Grade students are learning about food and talking about likes and dislikes. Today they tasted maple syrup ( xarope de arce), typical from Ethan´s country, in Vermont. When our conversation assistant asked them: " Do you like it?", nobody said " Well..so so" or " Uggh!...No, I don´t". All the children answered: " Yes, I do!!!". It was really delicious!

SPRING IS HERE!

April 2016

"Spring is here

Spring is here

Goodbye, snow

Flowers grow"

(Sung to the tune of "Are you sleeping?")

We are singing and reading Spring poems in class. Our language assistant has sung two popular nursery rhymes: " Rain, rain, go away" and "It´s raining, it´s pouring"

I´ve found these videos. Enjoy them and  sing at home.

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY                             IT´S RAINING, IT´S POURING

 Bye- bye , winter!!

EASTER

March 2016

Easter time is great! Preschoolers have had really fun going for an Egg Hunt. They received a message from Easter Bunny. After that, they looked for the chocolate eggs outside, in the playground, and in the library. Once in class, they counted the eggs and said their colours.

Finally, the children made some Easter crafts: little chicks, Easter bunnies and Easter baskets.

This is the rhyme we have been singing in class:

"I´m Easter Bunny

1,2,3.

Look for the eggs

and eat them with me.

Uhmmm! Yummy!"

FARM ANIMALS

February 2016

Old McDonald visited our little children with all the animals of his farm.

ANIMALS AND COLOURS IN PRESCHOOL

January 2016

4 and 5 year old children are learning colours and animals names with a wonderful story that Ethan has told them: "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?", and games. Here you can listen to this story ( with music), written by Eric Carle.

3 year old children are learning about the weather with a special spider: Incy Wincy Spider. All the children want to be the spider, the sun or the rain when we do the performance in class.

Here they are, doing their own spiders...

THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW

Our language assistant, Ethan, has told the oldest children a frightening classic tale:

"The legend of Sleepy Hollow", by Washington Irving.

Here is the  film (1949 cartoon)

After that, children drew the headless horseman using the  scratching technique.
