Last January, 18th we went to Vigo to watch a play in English: Huckleberry Finn. We all enjoyed the play and the students were on their best behaviour.
The story takes place along the Mississippi river, on a hand-made raft. Huck, a young boy escapes from his violent father and joins Jim, an escaped slave. Along the way, they meet a variety of characters: the sheriff, the charlatan Duke Bridgwater, or Judith, a woman beaten by her husband.
Although Mark Twain's story is a bit pessimistic, Firewalk Theatre' s version is an optimistic one where the values of friendship, solidarity and desire of freedom overcome racism, violence and intolerance.
